About us
A Roman Catholic, Non-Commercial, and Educational, radio station broadcasting on a frequency of 88.5 MHz (FM) in the New Bedford, Massachusetts area with Bayview as the community of license and WPMW as its call sign.
Mission
The mission of Radio CorMariae, operated by the Franciscans of the Immaculate, is to bring all souls to the Heart of Jesus in the “shortest, surest, most beautiful way” (St. Maximilian M. Kolbe) – through the Heart of Mary, His Mother – for the maximum glory of God. In following the example of our Seraphic Father St. Francis of Assisi, Radio CorMariae is faithful to our Holy Father, the Pope, and to the Magisterial teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
Company Overview
The station’s parent company, Academy of the Immaculate, Inc., submitted to the FCC for its application and was granted a construction permit in 2008. On March 25, 2011, the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, Radio CorMariae marked its official launch. Among its goals the Academy seeks to promote at every level the study of the Mystery of the Immaculate Conception and the universal maternal mediation of the Virgin Mother of God, and to sponsor publication and dissemination of the fruits of this research in every way possible. The Academy of the Immaculate is a non-profit religious-charitable organization of the Roman Catholic Church, incorporated under the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Description
Radio CorMariae is Latin for the Heart of Mary. The majority of the programing is supplied to the station by the Eternal Word Television Network (a full time affiliate of EWTN). The other programming lineup comes from that which is produced in our studio, and that taken from The Station of the Cross Radio Network and syndicated programs. The Franciscans of the Immaculate friars, at Our Lady’s Chapel in New Bedford, oversee the operations and maintenance of the station. We rely strictly on volunteers in our work at the station and on the generosity of many souls donating for its many expenses.
Volunteers needed
Radio CorMariae, like any of our Franciscan apostolates, operates by means of divine providence. This means that the staff who runs the station are all volunteers who felt that they want “to do something beautiful for the God” (Bl. Teresa of Calcutta). They choose to spend their spare time for the service of propagation of the Gospel through this means of communication. They felt the need to do something for others by making it easier for others to know the Faith. In spite of generous response of many, we still need more volunteers. Presently we are seeking volunteers in many and various positions at Radio CorMariae. Please consider helping in one or more of the following ways:
- – Web & social media
- – Audio mixing
- – Recording tech
- – Voice talent
- – Station operations
- – Interviewer
- – Manage volunteers
- – Help plan events
- – Help at events
If you are thinking to spend your time more fruitfully, why don’t you consider volunteering at Radio CorMariae. It’s once in a lifetime choice that could make a difference in the lives of others.
